The first venue to come in mind while setting artistic trends in Turkey, Istanbul Modern now builds a bridge from Istanbul to Amman with an exhibit due to en of July.
The exhibit takes place in Short Term Exhibits Area of the Museum. One of the first representatives of abstract art in Turkey is definitely Fahrelnisa Zaid whom work has been collected studiously for exhibit. The selection work of Zeid starts with Turkish era of her; 40’s and reaches out to 70’s; Amman, Jordon years of her.
Fahrelnisa Zeid is one of the first graduates of Sanayi-i Nefise (Fine Art school for women in Ottoman Istanbul) and finished her education on painting in Istanbul which had started in Paris. Her first personal exhibit had taken place in her house in Istanbul but later on she had chance to show her art in Paris, London, New York, Brussels and many cities. She’d died in Amman in 1991 and known working on psychological abstract works and portraits until her last breath.
