Erzurum is one of big cities of the East and was built on the foothills of Palandoken Mountain. The city is covered with 2000 meters high Plato’s and over 3000 meters mountains also the highest city of the country. It is well known with famous ski and snowboard run while offering comfortable resorts which is regional destination as the season lasts for six months.
You can arrive the center by plane and the distance between the airport and resort would be max 20 minutes. Erzurum is not a metropolis so don’t expect to shop in big venues but there are historical monuments like Yakutiye Medrese and Double Minaret Mosque (Cifte Minerali Cami). Take time to visit the city beforehand.
Palandoken Ski Run
You will admire the beauty of the ski runs thanks to the magnificent lightening, ski pleasure lasts till midnight here… Snow quality, the luxury and hospitability of the resorts and runs for every level of skiers makes Palandoken an appealing center in winter tourism of Turkey. Palandoken Mountains last 70 km and a winter tourism center since 1993. It proved world scale quality when it plays the host of World Collage Winter Games.
There are two runs that was officially registered for big slalom and slalom by International Ski Federation; FIS. New York Times listed 41 ski runs of the world and placed Palandoken Ski Runs in 18th as it is one of the steep slopes of the world.
Palandoken Ski Center offers 10 chair lifts, 2 baby lift, 1 gondola service between 2000 and 3,176 meters. You can reach one of the highest hills; Ejder Hill with gondola. The region has capacity of serving 12,000 persons at once and there are 7 hard, 8 medium and 2 hard categorized runs with 4 natural ones.
The center offers suitable places for Alp Discipline and snowboard and also activities lie climbing; paragliding, snow-tube and paintball. The season is long in Palandoken; it begins at November and lasts till the end of April. The place will allure you with the skiers’ favorite snow type: dusty snow.
